welcome.

The Wakeful by Patrice Peck is a newsletter spotlighting the latest news and opinion media about Black girls and women.

the what.

The previous version of this newsletter, Coronavirus News for Black Folks, shared news about COVID's impact on Black communities. Now, I'm sharing news and opinion media about Black girls and women in the form of curated round-ups and original reporting.

the why.

I find, read, and explain today’s national and local news and opinion media about Black girls and women, catching the most informative and compelling stories from the week that you might’ve (understandably) missed given our overwhelming news cycle.

the who.
