Hello there,
I’m so grateful you’re here. While we’re not quite open yet, consider yourself family—you’re an early adopter, an internet cousin, a real one.
If you missed the description on the empty homepage (totally understandable), here’s what you can expect from this newsletter:
“Cross My Mind” is a space for curious minds and creative souls, curated by yours truly, Patrice Peck. We’ll explore personal growth, creative work, and the journey of being a creator—questioning the obvious, pushing past the expected, and rethinking what’s possible, one idea at a time. 💡
I’ve always loved being a journalist, but the traditional mold of this profession has never fully fit me. I gravitate toward community building—connecting with people who enjoy questioning everything, considering new perspectives, generating ideas, and yes, talking about those ideas. But it’s not just about the chatter; it’s about digging deep, uncovering the fascinating bits beneath the surface, and making sense of them. I’m not content sitting alone at a desk, typing away for hours. The most exciting part of my work comes from the conversations my stories spark, the new ideas that emerge, and the discoveries I make along the way. Oh, and the interviews! Guiding people to unpack their stories and shaping narratives that feel both unique and universal is one of my absolute joys.
This newsletter is my way of raising my flag—like those tour guides in major cities—to help us all regroup, reflect, and share the new (or maybe familiar) things we’re discovering. Let’s connect, listen, and dive into some thought-provoking conversations.
If you didn’t find me here through YouTube (@speakpatrice), that’s where you can stay up to date with me. I’m also active on Instagram and TikTok (also @speakpatrice). And, I have another Substack newsletter called “The Wakeful,” which amplifies today’s top stories about Black girls and women—I highly recommend joining the 3,000+ subscribers if you're interested!
Thank you again for being here before the official launch. It’s like friends and family night before a big restaurant opening—you’ve arrived early, so it’s just you and me having a heart-to-heart before things kick off. Welcome! I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
~Patrice
P.S. This is also a not so subtle recommendation for (season 1 and 2 of) FX’s The Bear.
P.P.S. Context, sorta:
